Shutter work is priced per window, and most call-outs come down to the same two faults: a snapped strap or a broken slat. Both are repairable as long as the box and rails are sound; replacement only makes sense once the mechanism itself is worn.

Typical prices per window

Several windows at once cost less: the call-out fee applies once and most fitters discount from the second window. Collect the faulty shutters into a single visit.

Repair or replace?

• Sound box and rails with one or two bad slats: repair is almost always cheaper.
• Shutter over 15–20 years old with several broken slats and worn rails: replacement usually wins.
• If the shutter runs stiffly, have the rails and slat ends checked first — cleaning and adjustment often fixes it.
• Insulated boxes are only worth fitting during a renovation or window replacement.

Can existing shutters be motorised?

Often yes, if the motor fits the box and the slats are in good condition. The fitter can confirm on site. Radio-controlled motors are simplest because no wall chasing is needed for a switch — in exchange they need a battery or a separate supply.

Colour and type are often fixed to keep the façade uniform. Ask the building manager before ordering; being told to remove a new shutter afterwards is both unpleasant and expensive.
