Gas and heating work is priced on two things: the hours involved and the appliance itself. Servicing is a fixed fee; replacements and system changes are quoted after a survey. Important: in Hungary only a registered gas fitter may work on gas appliances, and the work must be documented.

A non-condensing appliance over 15 years old typically burns 15–25% more than a modern condensing one. If a repair costs more than a third of a new unit and the boiler is past 12–15 years, replacement usually wins — especially if the radiators and controls are upgraded at the same time.
